| One-day workshop on Quality Assurance in Teacher Education held at Jammu | | Advisor NAAC Prof Latha Pillai inaugurates workshop | | Jammu, April 21 Higher Education Department in collaboration with Government Women’s College Gandhinagar organized one day workshop on Quality Assurance in Teacher Education Institutions here today. The workshop was inaugurated by Advisor NAAC, Bangalore, Prof. Latha Pillai. Principal Secretary Higher and Technical Education Mr. A. K. Angurana, Director Colleges, Dr. N. D. Wani, Principal Government Women College Gandhinagar Prof. Veena Gupta and convener IQAC, Dr. Hemlay Aggarwal besides large number of representatives from B.Ed colleges attended the workshop. Main aim of organizing this workshop was to acquaint private institutions about the importance of NAAC accreditation and important in quality of education in their institutions. Principal Secretary Higher and Technical Education Mr. A.K. Angurana while addressing the workshop stressed upon private B. Ed College authorities to take benefit of the workshop and interact with the NAAC team and Higher Education Department. He said participants should share their experiences with their counterparts and organizers and exchange their ideas to update their knowledge. Speaking about present globalization and liberalization scenario, Mr. Angurana asked the participants to work for improving quality of education instead of adding more enrolment in their institutions. Director Colleges Dr N. D. Wani in his address said that the main focus of today’s Orientation Workshop is to orient and prepare all the teacher Education Institutions (TEIs) of the State to undergo Assessment and Accreditation by National Assessment and Accreditation Council, Bangalore. Principal of the College, Prof Veena Gupta while addressing the workshop welcomed the dignitaries and participants and hoped for successful completion of the workshop. She said that periodical evaluation of the educational activities is the motive behind NAAC and main purpose is to achieve excellence in academics and extra curricular activities. She said that quality is a great tool to make education institutions viable and credible. Earlier, Advisor, NAAC, Bangalore, Prof. Latha Pillai inaugurated the workshop and spoke at length about NAAC Assessment and Accreditation of Teacher Education Institutions. She said that J&K State Government has taken positive initiatives in higher education sector and the government is striving for making it broad based standard and quality. She felt her satisfaction over the functioning of education institutions of higher learning in the state and hoped for ensuring quality at all levels. |
