| Acts of black sheep should not tarnish parliament: Dasmunsi | | | New Delhi, April 22 In an effort to deflect the embarrassment caused by Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MP Babubhai Katara's arrest for human trafficking, Parliamentary Affairs Minister P.R. Dasmunsi Sunday said the entire establishment could not be blamed for the acts of a few "black sheep."
According to Dasmunsi, the meeting called by Lok Sabha Speaker Somnath Chatterjee Tuesday would decide on the action against the MPs, who were accused of being involved in human trafficking racket.
Asked to comment about Katara's arrest Dasmunsi said here: "It is unfortunate."
Katara, an MP from Dahod in Gujarat, was arrested Wednesday from the Indira Gandhi International airport here with one Paramjeet Kaur and a 15-year-old boy, Amarjeet Singh, who were posing as his wife and son. He was trying to fly them out to Toronto on the diplomatic passports of his family.
Katara's arrested aide Sunder Lal Yadav has reportedly named three more MPs for being involved in the racket.
Terming the allegations against MPs as "serious and grave in nature", Chatterjee had said a meeting of all party leaders would discuss the matter. |
