Social organizations catalyze reformative changes: Azad
‘Rajputs represent bravery, secularism’

Maintaining that secular characteristic has been the hallmark of rulers of Jammu and Kashmir, Chief Minister Mr. Ghulam Nabi Azad said that this ethos has made the state unique and admirable.
He was launching centenary celebrations of Shri Amar Kshatriya Rajput Sabha at Raj Tilak Bhavan Purani Mandi here today.
Mr. Azad said that the bravery of Rajputs together with their love and care for people irrespective of any consideration made them dear to all. He said truthfulness and commitment of upholding their word even at the cost of life has been the novelty of Rajputs from times immemorial.
Urging them to nurture this spirit and character, he said secularism, brotherhood and amity need further strengthening in the present day socio-political scenario.
He said Jammu and Kashmir always stood for amity between various sections of the society and remained abode of secularism and Rajputs played a vital role in inculcating this spirit in the society.
Social and voluntary organizations have a greater role in eradication of evils and strengthening bonds of communal harmony, he said and added that Rajput sabha has rendered stupendous service to curb social evils and help poorer sections of the society.
Chief Minister also greeted members of the community on completion of 100 years of the sabha.
Mr. Azad said that Shri Amar Kshatriya Rajput Sabha has been a progressive and secular organization which served people particularly poor and down trodden. He appreciated the social work done by the sabha and assured all possible support in carrying forward its agenda of welfare of people. He said social organizations are powerful medium for creating awareness about various programmes and policies for the larger benefit of the society.
Referring to various demands presented on the occasion, Chief Minister said that these would be looked into.
On arrival at Raj Tilak Bhavan, Mr. Azad was given a rousing reception by prominent members of the community. He was presented a turban of honour, saropa and memento.
Chief Minister also inaugurated newly renovated and developed park at Purani Mandi chowk. This park has been re-developed on the directions of Mr. Azad, which he had issued during his tour of the city about a month ago.
Member Parliament Ch. Lal Singh addressing the function said that Shri Amar Kshatriya Rajput Sabha has glorious history of past one century. He also lauded the historic initiatives taken by Mr. Azad for eradication of corruption, ensuring good-governance and healthy work culture, launching massive infrastructure development across the state and taking steps for speedier socio-economic development of people of the state. He also spoke about the welfare schemes launched by the sabha and presented demands of the community.
President Shri Amar Kshatriya Rajput Sabha Kr. Narayan Singh in his welcome address extended whole-hearted support to Mr. Azad in realizing his vision of making Jammu and Kashmir a peaceful and prosperous state in the country. He also dwelt on aims and objects of the sabha, its achievements in launching welfare schemes as also future agenda. He also presented a charter of demands of the sabha.
Minister for R&B Mr. Ghuchain Singh Charak, MP Ch. Lal Singh, legislators Mr. Harshdev Singh, Mr. Devinder Singh Rana, Mrs. Kanta Andotra and Mr. Yogesh Sawhney, Mayor Jammu Municipal Corporation Mr. Narinder Singh, Deputy Mayor Jammu Municipal Corporation Mr. Dharamveer Singh Jamwal and other dignitaries were also honoured on the occasion.
A large number of prominent members of the community and functionaries of the sabha attended the function, which was followed by a community langar.
Mr. Paviter Singh presented vote of thanks.
