| Deputations call on CM | | | Jammu, April 22 A number of deputations and individuals from various parts of the state called on Chief Minister Mr. Ghulam Nabi Azad here today and presented to him their development demands. A deputation from Nobra area of Leh called on Chief Minister and thanked him for creation of tehsil in the area. They said that this has fulfilled a long-pending demand of the people. They also urged Chief Minister for taking measures for checking soil erosion in Nobra, setting up of power projects in the area, provision of power supply to far-off habitations, construction of tunnel at Khardongla, bridge at Shathse Dagboo, motorable bridge from Chamshen to Charasa and link roads in the area. They also pleaded for upgradation of schools and health institutions besides provision of telecommunication facilities. Another deputation from Zanskar called on Mr. Azad and presented to him memorandum of their demands. These included construction of airport at Zanskar, setting up of State Bank of India branch and filling station at Zanskar. Other demands presented by the deputationists included plying of SRTC bus services from Kargil to Zanskar as well as in Zanskar area and augmenting irrigation facilities. The deputationists also urged for opening of an ITI at Zanskar besides setting up of more health institutions and upgrading existing ones as well as upgradation of education institutions with provision of hostel facilities. They also pleaded for upgradation of Suroo-Padam road, making functional Haftal hydel project and enhancing seats of councillors. Acting Chairman Legislative Council Mr. P. Namgial, Minister for Power Mr. Nawang Rigzin Jora and Minister for Social Welfare Haji Nissar Ali were among those present on the occasion. |
