Measures a foot to make Jammu clean, beautiful: Charak

JAMMU, APRIL 22
a joint meeting of MPs, Legislators’, Corporators and officers was held under the presidentship of Minister for Road and Buildings Mr.Gulchain Singh Charak here last evening. The meeting was convened to put forth their suggestions for beautifying the Jammu city.
Others who participated include, MPs Mr. Madan Lal Sharma, Mr. T.S.Bajwa, Legislators Mrs. Shanti Devi, Mrs Farida Mir, Mr.Arvinder Singh Micky, Mayor, Director Archives, JDA Vice Chairman, Deputy Commissioner Jammu, SSP Jammu, Chief Engineer Roads & Buildings, Chief Engineer PDD and other senior officers of Municipal Corporation urban development, Tourism and others. About 62 corporators participated in the meeting.
In a four hours long meeting a threadbare discussion was held in which every corporators took part in discussion and highlighted the problems and also put forth the suggestion to address them. All the participants stressed for upgradation of basic facilities to the people particularly the extended colonies of city. They also gave their suggestions for the beautification of Jammu city and unanimously said to achieve this goal, that their should a greater coordination among the departments and people.
On the occasion, Mr.Charak said that direction has already been passed all the sister departments to keep close coordination with each other and any departments or officers violates would punished. He said that suggestion putforth by the corporators have been registered and necessary steps would be taken in this regard. He said “we have to work above the party lines for the welfare of people and address their grievances”.
Mr.Charak said that various schemes were already launched by the government through various agencies to address the main problems, like sewerage, better road connectivity, better power, drinking water and medicare facility for the people. He asked corporators to cooperate with administration to implement these mega schemes in letter and spirit..
Mr. Charak announced that separate meetings would be convened with corporators on constituency-wise so that more steps would be taken to address the problems of people.
On the occasion, MPs Mr. Madan Lal Sharma, Mr.T. S. Bajwa, and legislators Mrs. Farida Mir gave their suggestions for beautification of Jammu. The suggestions are construction of entry gate wall with resemblance to Jammu architect, restoration of traffic lights, set up of sign boards, passengers sheds with public convenience facility, creation of parking areas, under ground wiring and maintenance of Gardens and Parks of city.
Mayor Jammu Municipal Corporation Mr. Narinder Singh stressed to transfer Jammu Development Authority land within city limits to Corporation and assured that once it would be done, we would construct a Multistoried parking building by public private partnership. He said that I assure you that within 6 months these complexes would be completed. He said this is first step towards beautifying the Jammu city.
