| MEA seeks LS consent to cancel Katara's passport | | | 22 Apr, 2007 NEW DELHI: In the wake of arrest of suspended BJP MP Babubhai Katara in alleged human trafficking case, the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) is likely to initiate the process of cancellation of his diplomatic passport next week.
The MEA is likely to approach the Lok Sabha Secretariat in a couple of days to seek its opinion on whether Katara's passport should be cancelled or not, sources said.
The Lok Sabha Secretariat's opinion is being sought as Katara is still a member of the Lower House of Parliament, they said.
The MEA has already been informed officially by the security agencies about the details relating to Katara's arrest.
Katara was arrested at Delhi's Indira Gandhi International Airport on Wednesday while he was allegedly trying to take out a woman and a boy to Canada on passports of his wife and son.
