| Cong demands expulsion of MPs named in Katara case | | | 22 Apr, 2007 NEW DELHI: With names of three other MPs coming up in the human trafficking case allegedly involving suspended BJP MP Babubhai Katara, Congress on Sunday stepped up pressure on the issue saying it favoured expulsion of the members as also their criminal prosecution if found guilty.
We are for expulsion, criminal prosecution and for stringent punishment of all those involved, party spokesman Abhishek Singhvi said.
His reaction came close on the heels of statement of one of the arrested persons naming three other MPs to whom he had introduced travel agents suspected to be behind such rackets.
Sunderlal Yadav, a betel shop owner, who was among the three persons arrested on Saturday night in New Delhi, told a local court that he had introduced travel agents -- Mahesh Gupta and Rashid -- to TRS chief K Chandrashekhar Rao, MP from Karimnagar in Andhra Pradesh, Mohammed Tahir Khan, BSP MP from Sultanpur in UP, Ramswarup Koli, BJP MP from Bhayana in Rajasthan and late parliamentarian Ram Awadh.
Coming down hard on the BJP in the matter, he said that the party had said after Katara's arrest that what has been witnessed was only tip of the iceberg.
