| Cong, NSUI activists protest against Rail fare hike | | Halts train at Railway Station Jammu | | Early Times Report
Jammu, June 25 : Congress, Bahujan Samaj Party leaders among Youth Congress and NSUI activists today protested against the Rail fare hike at different locations in Jammu. Congress workers led by Yogesh Sawhney- former Minister and Pranav Shagotra - Vice President Pradesh Youth Congress today assembled at Shaheedi Chowk and shouted slogans against the Modi Government for its decisions of hike in the Railway fare 14.2%, hike in the prices of sugar, diesel, kerosene oil and LPG cylinders in a dictatorial manner. They also burnt effigy of Narendra Modi.The senior Congress leaders said that the Modi Government has started calculation from the very first day of its Government that how to compensate the business and Corporate houses for the money they provided him (Narendra Modi) in the elections. And this is the reason the Government even cannot wait for the budget session and announced unprecedented hike in the prices of essential commodities.Pranav Shagotra said the people of the Country were familiar of the anti-poor policies of the BJP but they fall into the trap of hollow and false slogans of Narendra Modi. "The providing of essential commodities to the poor on reasonable rates is the duty of the Government and it does not matter how much subsidy is given", he added.Meanwhile the Youth Congress leaders and NSUI activits halted train at Jammu Tawi railway station. Later on police reached the spot and lath charged on the agitating activists and evacuated the Railway Station premises. The protesting activists chanted slogans against Modi government and demanded rolling back of the decision to raise the railway fare and freight charges. They also said that BJP has made a false promise to the people of the nation to give them "Achey Din" but in reality they are giving us "Expenssive days" by increasing the prices of essential commodities, one by one. Shahnawaz Choudhary, State president of J&K Pradesh Youth Congress said that they will not sit silent till hike in rail fare is rolled back. He also warned of intensified agitation if the Centre continued to take such "anti-people decisions". Neeraj Kundan, State President of NSUI said that hike in railway fare is in not a healthy sign of good days and NSUI will protest till the rolling back of "the anti-people decision of the central government".Ajay Kumar, National Delegate; NSUI, Jammu and Kashmir said the phased wise escalation in the prize of essential commodities will deprive the poor of the bread in coming days and same will not be tolerated by the NSUI. Main NSUI activists who were present in the protest included Neeraj Kundan, State President J&K, Ajay Kumar, National Delegate, Avijot Singh & Parikshit Shagotra, State General Secretaries, Abhishek Dogra, Nishant Gupta & Ranjodh Singh, State secretaries, Nitin Bakshi, President Jammu University among others. |
