Kathua, June 26: International Day against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking was celebrated by "Nari Shakti Jagriti Manch" (NSJM) with its own set of activities of awareness anti-drug and anti-trafficking at Kathua today. The celebrations were marked with debates and poster making contest in which participants threw light on the worst consequences of growing drugs abuse and trade. While speaking on the occasion, the president of NSJM appealed the people of Kathua to join the fight against drugs abuse and illicit trafficking so that major portion of young generation could be freed from the clutches of drugs abuse menace. She said a comprehensive approach is needed to address the range of drug related challenges through implementation of strategic policies, drug abuse/use prevention activities, and supply reduction initiatives. In her speech she claimed not only affected the women only but also all sections of the society. Among others who spoke on this occasion included Updesh Andotra, Indu Partap, Sunita, Pooja, Pankaj Mahajan, Sunny and Sahil. ------------------------ Saina moves up in world rankings
New Delhi, June 26: The quarterfinal finish at the Indonesia Open Super Series in Jakarta recently helped London Olympics bronze medallist Saina Nehwal earn a place and reach eighth position in the latest world badminton ranking, released today. P V Sindhu, meanwhile, remained static at 10th spot in the women`s singles rankings. Top Indian men`s shuttler Parupalli Kashyap, however, dropped two positions to be at 20th place. The lone Indian to gain a place in the men`s singles ranking is Sourabh Varma, who climbed to 37th, while R M V Gurusaidutt and Anand Pawar lost a position each to be at 35th and 42nd, respectively. K Srikanth retained his 29th position in the chart. |
