| Security arrangements beefed up for Amarnath pilgrims | | | Early Times Report Jammu, June 26: More than 60 companies of CRPF besides 30 companies of state police and paramilitary forces have been deployed for providing a security cover to pilgrims visiting the holy mountain cave, treated as abode of Lord Shiva and his consort Parvati, during the annual Amarnath yatra. These forces will keep a vigil on the entire route from Lakhanpur to Jammu, the base camp for the pilgrimage, upto the mountain cave in eastern Kashmir. Official sources said that while 60 companies of paramilitary forces have been deployed in Jammu, Anantnag district, two routes from Pahalgma to the cave and another from Baltal to the cave.In addition to this police parties have been sent to ensure incident free pilgrimage which is to begin from June 28 and end on August 10. Sources said that as per the norms the cave shrine and its immediate environs are to be protected by the Army. Troops sent to the cave shrine for providing security to the pilgrims have been asked to sanitise the cave and its surroundings against any explosives having been planted by the militants.Police authorities said that till date no threat messages have been received indicating militant plans of disrupting the annual yatra. |
