Early Times Report Jammu, June 26: Strike of All J&K SRTC Drivers Union Jammu, province today entered third consecutive day, the operation of passenger fleets seemed to have come to a standstill as almost all the buses of the fleet came to halt. The leaders accompanied by hundreds of drivers held a protest demonstration at SRTC yard rail head, and refused to yield to pressure tactics being adopted by the management. The day long protest was addressed by a galaxy of spokesmen. Each and every participant showed his anguish over the high headedness of the management, who very instead of looking into the very just and genuine demands of the drivers who are working day and night, have over night been trying tooth and nail to make a breakthrough by using all the means of 'saam daam dand bhed'. They even resorted to threatening the drivers individually, but did not succeed. This in itself is a proof that how frustrated is the driver community at the hands of the present management, who in lieu of such a hard work were not even, paid wages equal to a labourer. Giving a new twist to the events, another class of J&K SRTC workers who have been the worst sufferers at the hands of the present Management and struggling hard for their rights since long 'The VRS workers' showing solidarity with the drivers, joined the protest programme and pledged to bring to fore the misdeeds and high headedness of the management. Everyone who addressed the gathering seemed to be crying at the core of the heart. |
