| Parties resent Geelani’s slogans | | | Jammu April 23 Several political parties have strongly condemned holding of anti-India rally and raising of Pro-Pak and pro-militant slogans at the rally addressed by Hurriyat Conference Chairman, Syed Ali Shah Geelani at Srinagar yesterday and demanded his immediate arrest and stern action for such utterances. State BJP President, Ashok Khajuria has strongly condemning the State and Central governments for allowing anti national and fundamentalist elements to organize a rally in the heart of the Srinagar city where anti India-India, pro-Pakistan and pro-Lashkar slogans were raised. He said the police did not take any action even after the said anti-national ‘tamasha’ being enacted in the summer capital was telecast by all the major national as well as local channels and added that the Police washed off their hands by belatedly registering an FIR much after the event was over. Taking strong notice of the sequence of events regarding the episode, Khajuria has demanded that all the prominent persons who participated in the program including Geelani should be booked under Public Safety Act and sent to jail so that a clear message goes to those who have been raising anti-India slogans and false propaganda against the country. Samajwadi Party in its meeting held under the chairman of its Secretary General Ram Prakash Sharma while expressing its concern over the latest developments in the aftermath of holding anti-India rally by Syed Ali Shah Geelani and banned militant outfits and making anti-India and pro -Pakistani speech, has accused the State coalition government and the security forces for its total failure in taking adequate preventive measures in time. Terming registration of FIR against Geelani as mere eye wash, the meeting said that had the administration and the security forces been vigilant, the very meting should not have been allowed to take place and the resultant damage caused could have been averted. The party has also ridiculed PDP for harping on withdrawal of troops from the trouble torn Kashmir and said that holding of anti-India rally by the banned militant organizations should serve as an eye opener to Mufti and others. The activists of State Unit of the Janata Party today held a protest demonstration at Gole Market Gandhi Nagar here against the pro-Pakistan slogans and anti-India proclamation made in Geelani’s rally in Srinagar which was attended by pro-Pak militant organizations like LeT and HM, openly raising slogans in favour of Pakistan and Azadi. Accusing Police posted at the venue of the rally of its failure in acting against those raising anti-India slogans, Som Nath Dabgotra alleged that ‘the rally was in fact sponsored by the Police department and ‘Khufia’ agencies’. The Party asserted that Pro-Pak elements and anti-India people like Geelani have no right to live in India and needed to be put behind the bars for spreading venom against India. The party also burnt the effigy of Geelani as well as of the state government and demanded immediate arrest of Geelani for his anti-India stance. Shiv Sena Unit of Jammu and Kashmir President Anan Sharma has lambasted the government for allowing the pro-Pak Hurriyat leader to hold anti-India rally at Srinagar. The party’s activists burnt the effigy of Geelani and warned that if no action against Geelani was taken by the government, the Sena will launch ‘direct action to eliminate such elements’. The party said that the video visuals of the rally is sufficient evidence to put Geelani behind the bars and alleged ‘that due to clandestine nexus between the militants and the administration no action was taken against the militants’ upper ground leader Geelani ‘. The party said that Geelani’s pro-Azadi rally was a part of the conspiracy of the government to sabotage the 3rd Round Table Conference. Shiv Sena Hindustan has sought immediate arrest of Geelani for his provocative and anti-India speech and accused government of its soft attitude towards the fundamentalist leader. The activists of BJP district unit Jammu led by its President Kavinder Gupta took out an impressive rally from party headquarters and held a sit-on-protest dharna at Kachi Chawni demanding immediate arrest of Syed Ali Shah Geelani. Addressing the protestors, Gupta strongly criticized both the state and the central governments for letting Geelani and others to go scot free after organizing a rally at Srinagar in which pro-Pakistan and anti-India slogans were raised. He said the people like Geenali are openly encouraging anti national elements and preaching sedition but the government did not dare to arrest them and threatened to intensify its agitation if Geelani and co-hearts were not booked under PSA and sent to jail.
