HC issues bailable warrants against commissioner/Secretary Transport
4/23/2007 11:15:35 PM
JAMMU, APRIL 23
Justice Nisar Ahmed Kakru Chief Justice (Acting) of J&K High Court in a contempt petition issued bailable warrant against Commissioner/Secretary Transport Department to the tune of Rs 3000 for procuring his presence in the Court.
Justice Kakru, after hearing Advocate Arti Anand appearing for the petitioner Romesh Kumar, observed that on May 2, 2006 the Court granted last opportunity to Mr. BS Salathia , Additional Advocate General for four weeks for filling the supplementary affidavit failing which Commissioner/Secretary to Government Transport Department shall appear in person. Neither supplementary affidavit was filed nor Commissioner/ Secretary Transport has appeared, so much so non-appearance, leaves no option for the Court but to resort to coercive mode and issued direction for procuring the attendance of the Commissioner/Secretary Transport through bailable warrants in an amount of Rs 3000 for a date to be fixed by the Registry.
