SIT constituted to investigate IED blast in Nb Tehsildar office

Rajouri, June 30: DIG Rajouri-Poonch range has constituted a Special Investigation Team (SIT) headed by Additional SP, Poonch to investigate and identify the persons involved in the IED blast that has damaged the Naib Tehsildar building situated at Dhar gloon under the jurisdiction of Gursai police station in Poionch district.
Important to mention that the post of the Naib Tehsildar reportedly remained vacant for four months and Haji Muneer was to resume the charge of Naib Tehsildar on June ,25 at 8 am. The IED was reportedly a timer device which exploded at about midnight on June, 24.
There were rumors that some elements from the area in nexus with anti national elements had planted the IED to eliminate the officer.
Immediately after the blast Mendhar police started investigations but till today failed to develop any lead to establish the reasons behind the blast and to identify the persons who had planted the IED.
After failing to develop any specific clue in the case of mysterious blast in which office of Naib Tehsildar , Dargallon Mendhar was blown off, range police headquarter here has constituted a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to ascertain the cause of blast and the elements behind it. This was disclosed by AK Attri, DIG Rajouri-Poonch police range.
He said that Amit Gupta ,Additional SP Poonch will head the SIT while Surinder Choudhry and Javed Naz , SDPO Mendher and DSP operations respectively and SHO police post Gursai will be the members of the SIT.
"They have been directed to carry out the probe in full pace so that the facts can be brought to limelight as soon as possible. These officers have also been asked to camp on the blast site and to carry out in-depth probe" said DIG.
Sources said that all the officers have been directed by the DIG to bring all the 'over ground workers' (OGWs) of the militant organisations operating in the area and surrender militants under their investigation.
DIG also instructed the SIT members to investigate the utilisation of explosive substances by the contractors engaged in road projects in the area.
" SIT has been constituted to pace up the speed of investigation into the blast and police is working on the case quite closely and facts will be drilled out soon" said DIG while interacting with the reporters.
