Security blanket beefed ahead of PM's visit, IGP Jammu apprised

Udhampur/Jammu, June 30: The security agencies have completed the security blanket across the Udhampur-Jammu ahead of scheduled visit of Prime Minister Narendra Modi who is visiting a day-long visit to state on July 4 to pay obeisance at Holy cave shrine of Shri Mata Vaishno Devi. Meantime the security agencies have apprised the IGP Jammu with the latest initiatives undertaken under enhanced security blanket ahead of PM's visit.
Pertinently Prime Minister Mr Modi is visiting state during which he will be dedicating the Train service to Katra to the people of nation and a hydroelectric power project in Uri in valley and also will be chairing a security review meeting in Srinagar.
According to sources, the security arrangements ahead of the visit of Prime Minister have been completed and beefed up. "And in the process, to review the security for the PM, a high level meeting was held at Railway station Katra on Saturday, in which IGP Jammu Rajesh Kumar, Divisional Commissioner Jammu Shantmanu, DIG Udhampur,Reasi range Gareeb Dass besides other senior railways officials participated, sources said.
DIG Udhampur -Reasi Zone Gareeb Dass apprised the IGP Jammu that fool proof security arrangements have been made for Prime Minister's visit. Divisional Commissioner Jammu also took assessment of the arrangements by administration and passed on directions to the concerned officials.
"Security arrangements to the mark have been put in place in Srinagar also, sources said, adding that security blanket has been beefed around the the Unified Headquarters meet to be held at the 15 Army (Chinar) Corps headquarters at Badami Bagh Cantonment Srinagar, where PM Mr Modi will be briefed on the security situation along the borders with Pakistan and China and in the hinterland by senior Army officers, including Northern Army Command chief, Lt Gen DS Hooda. Chief Minister, Omar Abdullah, will also attend the meeting which normally sees participation of also heads and senior officers of J&K police, CRPF, BSF and other paramilitary forces, intelligence agencies and civil administration.
According to sources soon after his arrival in winter capital Jammu, the Prime Minister will fly to Katra and will inaugurate the rail link to Katra and visit Northern Command Headquarters Udhampur.
Sources however added that it is not yet clear if he (PM) would seize the opportunity to pay obeisance at Vaishno Devi temple which he had visited to seek blessing of the revered goddess before embarking on countrywide election campaign in March. The Prime Minister would be accompanied by Railways Minister Sadanand Gowda and Minister of State in PMO Dr Jitendra Singh, sources said.
During his visit Modi is also likely to have separate one-on-one meetings with Abdullah and Governor N.N. Vohra during which he is likely to discuss also vital issues such as security, ongoing Amarnath yatra and initiating certain political and economic measures to address the political and fiscal aspects of the Kashmir problem.
