| One day research program on Basmati rice organized | | | Early Times Report
Kathua, June 30: Department of Agriculture today organized one day research extension development program on quality improvement in production of basmati rice with special focus on export standards at Changran zone Kathua. Director Agriculture SS Jamwal presided over the function and Deputy Director central C M Sharma was also present on the occasion. In the interaction on quality improvement of basmati race the introduction about characteristics of different basmati varieties and seed production of basmati rice was given by Dr Ritish Sharma Senior scientist KVK Jammu. The farmers were made aware about the judicious use of pesticide for management of basmati rice and marketing by KK Sharma. Department of agriculture is providing various type of machinery to basmati growers; the details of which were presented by Dr A P Singh in which he told farmers about the various subsidies being provided to the farmers. In his address director S S Jamwal said that department is working day and night for the benefit of the farmers and to raise their living standard. |
