| Panchayat Dabwal faces acute water scarcity; admn unconcerned | | | Early Times Report
KATHUA, June 30: Even as Panchayat Dabwal of Block Barnoti in District Kathua is facing acute shortage of water, the district administration as well as the PHE department are doing nothing and witnessing the worsening situation like a mute spectator. Residents Neha Sharma, Santosh Sharma, Prithi Paul Singh, Anita Sharma said that a tube well is constructed in the Panchayat but its of no use which leave the people to suffer. Despite holding many deputations and protest demonstrations in support of demand for proper water supply, the PHE as well as entire district administration have failed to address the problem, they added. Due to the high level insensitivity and negligence of the administration and the concerned department in providing the water facility to the Dabwal, the population of 200-300 families is forced to survive without water. They said that the seasonal nallahs are the only source of drinking water for the population and the water which we are forced to drink is also highly contaminated that causes major threats to the health of the population. |
