Early Times Report

Jammu, June 30 : The Management Committee of Temples/Shrines of District Shopian has expressed great concern over the fresh incident of land grabbing in the District Shopian. According to the committee members, a local Land Mafia has stalled the fencing of the "Rugnath Temple Land" at Shopian near DC Office in connivance with highly influential person of the town intentionally mutating the revenue records with the help of some Revenue officals.
The committee members informed that official document issued by District Development Commissioner, Shopian has accepted that 19 Temples/Shrines/Dharamshallas have been damaged and encroached upon in District Shopian with property details and status of damage of Structures, where the said land also figures.
The job of the fencing was taken in hand after due permission of the District Development Commissioner, Shopian and the concerned officers of Muncipal Committee Shopian who demarcated the land on spot measuring less than three Kanals left over now out of the actual area of 5 Kanals 13 Marias existing in Revenue Records.
In this behalf, the Management Committee has vowed to deal strongly with the land grabbers and will strongly protest in the Shopian town itself today.
On the one hand the government is claiming that they will rehabilitate the Kashmiri Pandits in the Valley where as on the other hand it is silent on these issues where the land grabbers get encouraged with these incidents.
The committee members appealed Chief Minister and other concerned to intervene into the matter to hand over the land to its actual owner.
