| HM Distt Commander dies mysteriously | | 4 militants, trooper killed in Kashmir gun battles | |
Srinagar, April 23 At least three Hizbul Mujahideen (HM) militants, including a District Commander, and an army personal were killed in separate incident, while a hideout was busted across Kashmir region since last evening. Security forces claimed to have recovered a bullet ridden body from Gadiseer Bridge in Bijbehara area of South Kashmir. Army claimed that the body was recovered after it was spotted by the locals early this morning. He has later identified as Ghulam Nabi Mir alias Badda Jahangir a resident of Dupatyar and district commander of Hizbul Mujahideen. “The bullet ridden body of Jahangir was seen lying on road side near the bridge in the morning” a local resident told News Agency of Kashmir adding he was operating in the area from the last seventeen years. His mysterious death is said to be a big blow for HM in the district as the militant was wanted by security forces in several militancy related incidents and an award was also announced over his head. The body of slain militant was later taken to his native village Dupatyar village of Bijbehara in south Kashmir where he was laid to rest. Dupatyar is only few kilometers away from the residence of former chief minister and PDP patron Mufti Muhammad Sayeed. Police said that an unidentified body, suspected to be of a militant, was recovered from Kehmul Nalla, near Chowkibal, falling under the jurisdiction of police station Trehgam. In a separate incident a joint team of 62 Rashtriya Rifles and Special Operation Group of Jammu and Kashmir Police killed two militants of HM in Rishipur in Pulwama district. The troops came under fire during a search operation in the area leading to a gun battle, a defence spokesman told NAK. The troops retaliated and in the ensuing gunfight, both militants were gunned down. The slain militants have been identified as Rayees Ahmed Teli son of Ali Muhammad of Katgam in Zainapur and Reyaz Ahmed Ganai son of Ghulam Muhammad of Safanagari in Zainapur. One militant, also suspected to be of HM, and an army personal were killed during an encounter at Rangwar Chowkibal, under the jurisdiction of police station Trehgam. Reports said that the encounter started early this morning when militants fired upon a patrol party of 14-Grenaders. The identification of slain militant could not be ascertained immediately. Meanwhile, army claimed to have recovered a huge quantity of arms and ammunition including one RPG Launcher, 6 live grenades, 90 rounds of AK-47 and four magazines besides some ration material including blankets from militant hideout at Khelan forests of Pahalgam this morning.
