| Speaker visits Khour block, assess loss due to rains | | | JAMMU, AUGUST 06
Speaker Legislative Assembly Mr. Tara Chand conducted an extensive tour of Khour block of Akhnoor tehsil to assess the damages caused due to incessant rains.
The villages visited by Speaker included Channi Divanu, Gigrial, Gajral and Chak Bakhour.
Additional District Commissioner Mr. I. M. Zargar, Chief Engineer Flood Control and other senior officers of PDD, PWD and R&B departments accompanied the Speaker during his visit to Khour block.
During his visit, the Speaker asked the PWD authorities to immediately start the repair and renovation on damaged link roads. He issued on the spot instructions to PWD engineers to immediately start the construction work of crates so that the people do not face any inconvenience. He assured the inhabitants that the government is making best possible efforts to provide relief to those families who are affected with flood and or heavy rains.
Mr. Tara Chand also directed the Additional District Development Commissioner to shift those people who are residing along the Tawi River to safer places and provide them accommodation, ration and other basic facilities. He asked the authorities of PHE department to make adequate arrangements for drinking water.
Later, the Speaker visited Panchayat Ghar Gigrial and inspected the construction work of Hall near Panchayat Ghar. He also interacted with the people and listened their problems being faced by them. He assured them that relief would be given to affected people on priority. |
