SRINAGAR, AUGUST 6
The first meeting of the Prime Minister’s Working Group on Good Governance is being held here at Srinagar tomorrow under the Chairmanship of Dr. N. C. Saxena, Ex-Secretary to the Planning Commission.
The terms of reference of the Working Group are increasing accountability and transparency of the administration, strengthening local self-government, effective monitoring of the developmental programmes, institution of zero tolerance for human rights violation, strengthening the Right to Information and provision of security to all segments of society particularly the minority communities.
Other members of the Working Group include Mr. Mangat Ram Sharma, S. Rangil Singh, Mr. Ajay Sadhotra, Mr. P. Namgyal, Mr. Nizam-u-Din Bhat, Mr. M. S. Pandit, Mr. A. N. Vaishnavi, Prof Dr. Hari Om, Mr. Abdul Gani Hafiz, Mr. B. A. Dar and Mr. Kuldeep Singh Jamwal.
The first meeting of the Working Group on Confidence Building Measures across segments of Society in the State has already been held at Srinagar on 22nd of July 2006 under the chairmanship of Mr. Mohammad Hamid Ansari. |
