4/24/2007 12:01:26 AM
JAMMU, APRIL 23
Minister for Transport Hakim Mohammad Yaseen has taken a strong note of the complaints received from Srinagar-bound passengers on the eve of darbar move that the private transporters especially Sumo and Tempo traveler owners are violating the schedule rates by overcharging the passengers.
Hakim Yaseen has cautioned the transporters to abide by the fixed rates and not to subject the Srinagar-bound passengers to any inconvenience. He warned that any one found resorting to overcharging would be dealt seriously and his route permit would be impounded.
The Minister has directed Regional Transport Officers Jammu and Srinagar to keep a vigil in collaboration with Traffic Police at all terminal points in both the capital cities to check the malpractice by the transporters as well as the agents.
The passengers have been asked to register complaints with the concerned officers who are being deployed at various points as well as along the Jammu-Srinagar National Highway.
