JAMMU, July 6: The KC Sports Club (KCSC) and Rainawari Cricket Club (RCC) today qualified for the semifinals of the ongoing Chevrolet Cup Twenty20 Cricket Tournament at K C Public School grounds, here. In the quarterfinals, played today, KCSC defeated Jammu Cricket Club (JCC) in an interesting contest by six wickets. Earlier, batting first, after winning the toss, JCC set a target of 131 runs losing nine wickets, which, in reply, KCSC overhauled in 18.5 overs for the loss of four wickets. Paras Sharma played fine innings of 42 runs while Deepak and Ritwik Tripathi contributed 34 and 10 runs respectively. From KCSC, Sahil Bhalwal, Arjun Choudhary and Ashwani Bhat took two wickets each while Vivek and Ramandeep shared apiece each. Later, KCSC attained the goal making 135 runs in 18.5 overs with six wickets in hand. Abhishant Bakshi and Ashwani Bhat played unbeaten innings of 25 and 18 runs respectively. Struggling at one point of time with 32 runs required in 24 overs, KCSC clinchéd the thriller adding 12 runs off Rahil Singh's 17th over. Abhishant was so confident at the crease that he made the winning run with the help of a boundary. Earlier, Sahil Bhalwal (39) and Sahil Lotra (26) battled well to push forward KCSC innings. Arjun Choudhary added valuable 18 runs to the total. Paras Sharma was most successful bowler from JCC with two for 24 in four overs. Jatinder, Vishwajeet took one each. Meanwhile, in another quarterfinal of the day, RCC trounced International Cricket Club (ICC) by 14 runs. Batting first, RCC set a challenging total of 169 runs for seven wickets. Ishan Gupta and Rahul Mussa remained top scorers with 30 and 29 runs in their respective accounts. Rohit Bhat contributed 25 runs. From ICC, Rakesh and Arjun Singh bagged two wickets each while Rajeev Sharma took one. In reply, ICC could make 155 runs for nine wickets playing full 20 overs. Sahil Singh played brilliant innings of 47 (off 30 balls, 4x6, 3x4) runs but could not lead his side to victory. Rakesh and Manzoor-ul-Hussain added 23 and 14 runs respectively. Amit Sharma, Rohit Bhat and Amandeep Singh shared two wickets each from RCC. For his all round performance, Rohit Bhat named man of the match. Today's quarterfinals officiated by the technical penal including Sadiq Hussain Malik, Rajinder Singh, Sandeep Manchanda as umpires and Sohail Yusuf as scorer. |
