| Governor lauds Jammu lad for prestigious scholarship | | | JAMMU, APRIL 23 Governor Lt. Gen (Retd) S K Sinha today said that Jammu and Kashmir is blessed with abundant talent which needs identification and proper exposure on a wider canvass.
‘Our youth are second to none and they have the potential to add up to the country’s vast human resource, which has made its presence felt around the world’, he said and made a mention of those of some of the promising and enterprising youth who have made contribution in various fields.
General Sinha was interacting with a young Jammu scholar, Mr Gautam Gandotra who has achieved a unique distinction of becoming the first Asian to bag Hauser Global Scholarship awarded by the New York University of Law.
The Governor wished Mr Gandotra, who called on him at Raj Bhavan this morning, all success in his career and hoped he will continue his academic odyssey with zeal and zest. He said that as Head of the State he is overwhelmed to see the boys and girls from Jammu and Kashmir making mark at national and international level. In this context, he made a mention of Gurukul fame Qazi Tauqeer of Srinagar and Captain (Dr) Waheeda of Rajouri who brought laurels to the State.
Gandotra shared his ambition of becoming a corporate lawyer and said that he is pursuing his mission single-mindedly.
His parents were also present on the occasion.
