| RTC’s alleged non-representative nature flayed | | | Jammu, April 24 Expressing their resentment over the non-representative character of the Round Table conference being held at Delhi Veteran Akali leader and chairman of the Freedom Fighters convention Sardar Sant Singh Tegh and Dr Kulwant Singh, convenor state forum for justice and Human rights, on Tuesday said that most of the participants of the Round table conference are neither the victims of hardships nor the party to the dispute. Addressing a press conference Tegh said the separatist organizations have been extended invitations and they decided to boycott but in case of refugees of 1947,1965 and 1971 and other victims of human rights violation no separate invitation have been extened.He said even the letters of request for participation have been put on back burner as they have not been acknowledged by the office of the Prime Minister.He said in their absence there can be no solution to the hardships and various other problems of the people of Jammu and Kashmir. Blaming political class the sikh leaders said that various political parties and hierarchy of power in the state are more or less responsible for the creation of the present state of affairs by their wrong policies. Terming recent confidence building measures like opening routes of increasing trade through these routes as mere gimmicks sikh leaders said they appear to mere gimmicks towards solving the major issues. Tegh also raised certain demands while addressing a press conference here today.He said the central govt should hold talks with various groups of displaced persons of 1947-1965, 1971 from occupied areas of J&K and refugees from Pakistan residing in the state since 1947. A special consideration be given to the views of old persons who have been direct victim of the events of 1947. Separate talks may be held with separatist organization and victims of human rights abuses and detailed analysis be made about the causes of alienation of the people. All displaced persons be considered at par in the matter of adhoc relief given to one section of the society.In the end he demanded that a special social security fund be created to help refgees and displaced persons living without any source of income and living below poverty line without further loss of time.
