Jammu, July 11: The Western Air Command (WAC) Inter Air Force School Basketball Championship 2014(Boys and Girls) was held at Air Force school Jammu in which seven Air Force schools of western Air Command namely AFS Hindan, AFS Sarsawa, AFS Halwara, AFS Chandigarh, AFS Ambala, AFS Pathankot and the host team AFS Jammu participated this four day long championship which concluded here on Thursday.
“The final match for girls was played between Ambala and Chandigarh in which Ambala recorded a convincing win. The host team Jammu got the third place, official spokesperson said, adding, “ while the final match of the boys’ championship was played between Ambala and Jammu wherein AFS Ambala won in close contest.”
“The host team Jammu remained the runner’s up, spokesperson and added that AFS Chandigarh got the third place.
Chief guest Air Commodore P E Patange YSM VM Air Officer Commanding, Air Force Station, Jammu in his address appreciated the sportsmanship and enthusiasm of the students. He underlined that sports provide an excellent pathway for students to develop mental strength, camaraderie and competitive spirit.
Vikesh Sandhal, Principal, Air Force School Jammu presented a report on the entire events of the championship. Earlier a cultural programme was presented by the school students. Trophies, certificates, medals and mementoes were distributed to the participants. |
