MJR-47 criticizes Union govt for ignoring refugees in budget
7/11/2014 11:41:55 PM
Jammu, July 11: Movement for Justice for POK 1947 (MJR-47) has criticized the Union government for not announcing any package for POK refugees but announced a special package of Rs. 500 Crores for Kashmiri Pandits.
According to press release, MJR members said that all categories of displaced families of POK 1947 from Muzafrabad, Poonch, Mirpur or even from Chammb in 1947,1965, 1971 who were assured of relief and rehabilitation by Bhartiya Janta Party (BJP) have been totally ignored.
"This has led to develop a strong feeling that BJP who always talk of justice to all is not in any way different to previous Congress governments, which have played with refugees sentiments for the last more than six decades. No political parties have ever tried to feel our pains and suffering and miseries .We have faced in tribal raids of 1947 & therefore till date.", they said.
They further observed, "Except for false assurances and giving prominent place to refugee issue in election manifesto, none of the political parties has ever made serious effects to solve this issue".
They further said that now the time has come that all categories of refugees should come together and showed their strength in the ensuing state assembly elections and teach BJP a lesson like Congress party.
"We welcome package for Kashmiri migrants but strongly feel about the discriminatory attitude of the BJP government. We should now be very clear about the approach of all political parties who try to create wedge within the categories of refugees & get votes", they further said.
"Now is the time that all categories of displaced family may it be tribal raids of 1947 on state or on Chammb in 1947,65,71 to show their strength to defeat those who have been ill treating DPs all these years . We have the numbers & strength In most of the constituencies of Poonch, Rajouri, Reasi,Jammu, Kathua & Udampur Distt. to dislodge the candidates we wish. Only thing is our united action which is now becoming a reality.
We also appeal to state Govt. that much talked about media hype of relief package for displaced families be immediately sent to central govt. for approval. Such an action of state Govt.will relieve them of their liability & delay if any will be responsibility of BJP Govt. at the center. By taking such an action state Govt will certainly gain the confidence of DPs.", the statement further observed.
