| Ruling leaders adopting discriminatory approach within regions: Prof Gupta | | | Early Times Report Jammu, July 11: Voicing concern over the coming to halt the developmental activities in many areas resulting in problems to the people, the former Union Minister and MLA, Prof Chaman Lal Gupta alleged that the ruling leaders were adopting not only the regional bias but even resorting to discriminatory approach within regions and constituencies. Commenting upon the media reports regarding little developmental activities and poor sanitation conditions, MLA Jammu (West) Prof Gupta said even after the constitutional oath to extend equal treatment to all and no discrimination to any person or area, the ruling leaders on the ground are hell-bent to play the wrongs. Referring to the problems of his Jammu West Assembly constituency, he pointed out even the approved projects pertaining to congestion and that of traffic as also the sanitation and pollution have been put under carpet. "Ironically these also include the building of flyovers, widening of roads, construction of drains etc. are glaring examples to substantiate the charge," he added and further said that all these issues were even raised in the Assembly and Board Meetings. Prof Gupta also pointed out that the ruling leaders did not keep up the promise of holding the civic elections which were due since April, 2010. In the absence of elected bodies the sanitation conditions are worsening but it was unfortunate that the government leaders have gone mum to their commitments for empowerment of the basic democracies. He warned the ruling leaders to see the writing on the walls as the time of accountability is not far off. |
