GVK management refuses to engage local engineers in Rattle HEP

KISHTWAR, July 13: Hardening its stand towards denial of jobs to local unemployed Engineers in 850 MW Rattle HEP, the management of the project during a meeting of Public Undertaking Committee meeting at new DC office Complex Kishtwar categorically informed the meeting that project management is not in a position to engage local unemployed youths sighting in experience reason of the local engineers.
As per the details available with "Early Times" GVK project head Martin Bookly who tendered his resignation to GVK management a day before PUC meeting said that the working atmosphere in Rattle project is not conducive to carry on the job. He said that goons under the garb of unions has spread a reign of terror in the project area and added that he is not ready to work under such conditions.
Bookly further said that in case he filed any FIR against these goons, it will be a direct threat for him as he is not feeling secure under present security system. He further said that the future of the project will be decided only after the meeting of GVK management with Chief Minister Omar Abdullah and Chief Secretary Mohammad Iqbal Khandey. Bookly also refuse to engage local engineers in project and termed them as inexperienced/unfit for health of the project. He also informed the meeting that project management has provided the jobs to land effected families and added that management is ready to accommodate locals in the project other than engineers. After listening Bookly, Chairman PUC Ghulam Mohammad Saroori directed SP Kishtwar to initiate action against spurious elements who are creating trouble at project site.
SP Kishtwar informed the meeting that police on its own has provided sufficient security to the project management and laid stress on project management to arrange personal security by engaging private security guards.
It is pertinent to mention that Rattle power project management was forced to close its construction work at project site after successive unregistered unions interference and harassment to the project management on one or other pretext, thus created chaos within the project area; threatening law and order problem in the area.
