| Woman among 2 die, 6 injured in mishap | | |
Jammu, April 24
At least two persons, including a woman, were killed and six others were wounded when a taxi skidded off the road and plunged into a gorge in mountainous Doda district, this morning.
Reports reaching here revealed that a Tata Sumo was on its way to Jammu when it met with the accident near Assar on Doda-Jammu road around 11 AM today.
Giving details of the mishap, a police officer told News Agency of Kashmir that driver of the ill fated vehicle failed to negotiate a sharp curve due to which vehicle skided off the road and fell into a deep gorge.
Two persons, including a woman, were killed on the spot and six others were wounded. The deceased include driver Rakesh Kumar. Identification of the woman could not be ascertained immediately.
Police said that a rescue operation was launched immediately and injured were shifted to hospital. Their condition was stated to be critically.
