| JU cultural troupe bring laurels | | |
Jammu | Apr 24 A cultural troupe from the University of Jammu (JU) brought laurels by winning number of prizes in the recently concluded "Spring Fest-2007” organized by Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University (SMVDU), Kakrial, Katra. Seerat Hussain from the Department of Law bagged first prize in the cartooning contest. In “Light Vocal Solo Category”, Chanchal Sharma, a research scholar from the PG Department of Dogri was adjudged first. Sunil Bhagat from the Post Graduate of Commerce mesmerized the audience by presenting "Heer" by Waris Shah, and clinched second prize while Ranjit Singh from the Department of Sociology enthralled the listeners with "Sindhi Kalam: Dama-Dam Mast Kalandar” and got third prize in the said event. Meanwhile, in “Punjabi Group Dance” presented by Tamanna, Pallavi, Monica, Rubina, Vlkramaditya Chopra, Parvesh Singh Salaria, Anuj Gautam and Rashid from the Law Department was adjudged second. The “Dogri Group Dance” presented by the Department of Dogri bagged third prize. The participants included Sugandha Sharma, Pooja Sharma, Nirmal Sharma, Seema Rani and Deepika while Kreeti Mahajan from the Department of Education was adjudged third in the Solo Dance Competition. Mukti Talwar from the Department of Education regaled with" "Woh jo hum mein tum mein karar tha, tumhe yaad ho kin na yaad ho" a ghazal penned by Momin. Ravi Sharma, Music Composer, Darbari Lal, Rhythmist and Anil Raina, Flutist accompanied the performers. . Dr P S Nathaniel, Dean Students Welfare JU and Vijay Atri, Asstt Dean (Cultural Affairs) have congratulated the participants of the Festival.
