| ICDS officials embezzle salaries of Anganwari workers | | Crime Branch to register case against them | |
Srinagar | Apr 24 Crime Branch has unearthed a case of misappropriation of salaries of Anganwari workers of Chadoora by the ICDS officials. These officials embezzled the salary amount of 50 Anganwari workers for the month of Apr 2004 through non disbursement of their salaries. Meanwhile, Crime Branch will register a formal case into the matter for detailed investigations. According to reports, Crime Branch received a report alleging therein that in ICDS Chadoora during the year 2003-04 the salaries of 30-40 workers were drawn against fake signatures by certain officials of the said department and the said money was misappropriated by these officials. Thereafter, an enquiry was ordered into the matter. During enquiry the records relevant to the matter were examined which substantiated non-disbursement of salaries to 50 workers at the rate of 650/- per head for the month of April 2004. As such the undisbursed amount calculated was Rs.32000. Three employees of the said department namely Nazir Ahmad Wani CDPO, Mohamed Maqsood Bhat I/C CDPO and cashier Syed Showket Qureshi were identified to be responsible for the non disbursement of salaries to fifty ICDS workers.
