| Sardar Qayoom calls on Mufti | | | New Delhi, April 25 Veteran Muslim Conference leader and former Pakistan Administered Kashmir (PAK) President and Prime Minister, Sardar Abdul Qayoom Khan called on the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Patron, Mufti Mohammad Sayeed here today.
The two leaders held extensive deliberations on and about the current Kashmir situation and the need for evolving consensus for the peaceful resolution of the problem in the context of the various proposals made by different quarters for the settlement of the issue.
Both the leaders stressed the need for speeding up implementation of the cross-LoC confidence building measures including opening of all the traditional routes connecting the two parts of the State, allowing free movement of people and goods through these routes and devising an institutional cooperative mechanism between the two parts of the State to consolidate the peace and resolution process.
They called for immediately removing all the irritants in the implementation of the inter-state confidence building measures between two parts of the State. "For an amicable and just settlement of the issue, it is imperative that the people of the whole Jammu & Kashmir are carried along and that can be done only by facilitating greater interaction between the people on two sides of the LoC," the leaders emphasized and called upon India and Pakistan to give the much-needed impetus to the reconciliation process through greater cross-LoC exchange of ideas and views.
PDP President, Ms Mehbooba Mufti was also present in the meeting that lasted for about two hours.
