| WGs recommendations to be implemented in two months: Azad | | ‘Peace, progress to go hand in hand’ | | Srinagar, April 25 Chief Minister Mr. Ghulam Nabi Azad said on Wednesday that recommendations of working groups would be implemented to provide succour to the people of the state. “Within next two months the process of implementation will begin”. Addressing a massive public rally at Larnoo, 110 kms from here in South Kashmir, he said that the marathon Delhi roundtable conference, presided over by Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh yesterday, deliberated upon the recommendations for over 10 hours. He said besides other matters rehabilitation of militancy victims, orphans, widows, destitutes and those rendered unemployed also came up for discussion. He said matters pertaining to facilitating more and more visits of people from both sides of LoC and promotion of trade and tourism were also discussed at the meeting. Describing third RTC a success, he said representatives of all political parties, ethnic and social groups, Gujjars, Bakarwals, Paharis, Scheduled Castes, Ladakhis, Kargilis, border residents, intelligentsia, etc. participated in the deliberation. Expressing dismay over certain groups for keeping away from RTCs and working groups, he said they have lost historic opportunity to put forth their points of view. Emphasizing the importance of peace for development, Chief Minister said that every citizen has stake in peace. “I have come to awaken people against vested interests whose sole agenda is to disturb the tranquility and fish in troubled waters. We will not allow this situation to continue”, he maintained. Expressing satisfaction over the improving relations between India and Pakistan and the dialogue process between the two countries, Chief Minister said this has made our borders peaceful and provided congenial atmosphere to carry forward welfare schemes. Referring to the development scenario, Chief Minister said that multi-pronged development strategy with strong monitoring vigil has been put in place to create a new era of prosperity in the state and register speedy progress in every field. He said power generation, road connectivity, employment generation, water supply, health care, etc. have been placed on priority list. Rupees 24000 crore Prime Minister’s Reconstruction Plan has catapulted public infrastructure development in the state and next four years would be years of harvesting the results, he said while expressing gratitude to central leadership particularly UPA Chairperson Mrs. Sonia Gandhi and Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh for taking keen interest in development of the state. Referring to the action taken against erring police officers found involved in fake encounter, Mr. Azad said the step is exemplary and vindicates state’s firm determination to curb rights violation at every level. Mr. Azad was accorded a rousing welcome by the enthusiastic people who had come from various places to hear Chief Minister. Minister for Education Peerzada Mohammad Sayeed speaking on the occasion highlighted the achievements of government and lauded Chief Minister for his visionary concept of carrying forward peace and development process simultaneously. He also put forth development demands of Kokernag constituency, which he represents as MLA.
