Batote, July 20: The two hour long traffic snarl on the Jammu-Srinagar national highway (NH44) at Batote obstructed the yatra convoy and delayed its scheduled entry into the valley by 2 hours today.
The heavy snarl was caused in Batote when a Jammu bound truck (PB0AX-7653)developed a snag and suddenly halted on the road in the morning beside an already snagged Jammu bound truck (JK14A-4770)which had already broken down there around midnight.
The Traffic Police, local police and CRPF cops led by SHO,Batote, Mohd.Iqbal Choudhary managed to regulate the vehicular traffic around10.30am after hectic efforts for two hours.This delayed the convoy of the Amarnath shrine bound vehicles by two hours beyond the scheduled time-3pm, of crossing the Jawahar Tunnel besides causing the inconvenience to the yatries and other commuters. |
