JAMMU, APRIL 25
To tackle water power crises during summer a high level meeting of officers of power and water supply departments was held here today to take stock of the preparedness. Minister for PHE, Irrigation and Flood Control Mr. Dilawar Mohammad Mir was in chair. Minister for Power Mr. Nawang Rigzin Jora was also present in meeting.
Addressing the meeting, Mr. Dilawar Mir said that government is procuring automatic regulators costing Rs. 2 crore to ensure uninterrupted power supply for providing regular drinking water supply to the people of Jammu during the summer months.
Minister instructed the authorities to purchase the necessary machinery immediately to improve water supply distribution system immediately to provide educate drinking water to the people especially during hot summer days. He called upon the authority of Power and PHE Department to gear up men and machinery for providing adequate drinking water to the people during summer months adding that rising temperature in coming days may pose a big challenge for the engineers of the twin departments.
The Minister urged for great coordination between power and PHE, Departments to provide solace to the people. He urged for providing uninterrupted power supply at the tourist resorts particularly Patnitop which become hub for Jammuites.
Mr. Jora said that efforts of the power department should be to rectify the faults in transmission system with in shortest time. He called upon the people to adopt austerity while using electricity so that people are not put inconvenience due to over loading. He said that the metering in Jammu city would be completed by the August.
Among others, Principal Secretary Power, Mr. Madhav Lal, Development Commissioner Power, Mr. Showkat Rashid Wani, Commissioner Secretary PHE, Mr. Mohammad Iqbal, Chief Engineer M&RE Jammu, Mr. D.S Pawar, Chief Engineer PHE Jammu, Mr. Vinod Goswami and Joint Director Information Mr. S.K Sharma were also attended the meeting.
