| Seminar on ‘Historical Perspectives of J&K’ held at JU | | | Jammu | Apr 25 A one day seminar on ‘Jammu, Kashmir and Ladakh-Historical, Cultural and Linguistic perspectives’ was held at Brig Rajinder Singh Auditorium, University of Jammu (JU) here today. Rahman Rahi, eminent poet, literary critic and recipient of Padamshri award was the chief guest on the occasion. The seminar was organized by Department of History, JU in collaboration with the Himachal Research Institute, Himachal Pradesh. In his inaugural address, Rahi threw light over the composite cultural heritage and historical perspective of J&K comprised of three regions viz. Jammu, Kashmir and Ladakh. In his key note address, Prof A C Bose, eminent historian spoke in length over the history of all the three regions. He also briefed participants about the historical, cultural and linguistic perspectives of the three regions of the state. Earlier, the seminar was inaugurated with the lighting of the traditional lamp by the chief guest. Prof BPS Sehgal, Dean Academic Affairs (DAA) presided over the function. Prof S C Sharma, HoD History JU and Dr Kuldeep Agnihotri, Director Himachal Research Institute also participated in the seminar. Meanwhile, Governor of Sikkim, V Rama Rao was the chief guest during the valedictory function. The valedictory address was delivered by Dr SS Baloeria, former Chief Secretary J&K while Prof Lalit Magotra presided over the valedictory function.
