| Airport road comes to halt, many miss flights | | | Early Times Report
Srinagar, July23: Massive traffic jam was witnessed today, on the airport road resulting many to miss their flights after a mysterious death of a local sparked sporadic 'sit in' protests which threw the routine traffic out of gear of ever busy road in summer capital of state. According to sources, one person died and another got injured in Kannipora area of the city "mysteriously" during the night. Sources said that the deceased belonged to Hyderpora whose relatives came to the roads to protest alleging the mysterious death as "a cold blooded murder".The protests resulted in a massive traffic jam on the ever busy Airport Road with hundreds of vehicles waiting in a serpentine line for hours together. Many passengers heading towards the Airport have to miss their flights, meanwhile senior police and administrative officials rushed to the spot and tried their best to pacify the situation. Though the protestors were pacified by assurances from the senior official but the clogged traffic took several hours to get streamlined. Pertinently the relatives and protestors were referring to a property dispute between the families of the deceased with some other family and alleged that it was old enmity which resulted into cold blooded murder of victim. |
