| VO registers case against Ex. Engineer GDA, supplier | | |
Jammu, April 26
State Vigilance Organization on Thursday registered a case against Executive Engineer Gulmarg Development Authority (GDA) and a supplier for purchase of 9000 kgs of Flournite (concrete hardener) and 6000 litres of Rapidite (quick setting material) @ Rs 45 per Kg and Rs 55 per litre respectively during November-December, 2004, without holding any competition, conducting any market survey or inviting tenders, as was required under rules.
According to Vigilance spokesman, preliminary market survey conducted by the SVO has revealed that both these materials were available in the market at considerably lesser rates and Rs 4.50 lakh and Rs 3.22 lakh was paid to the supplier against these materials by the accused Executive Engineer.
The verification conducted has further revealed that by such purchase huge loss has been caused to the state exchequer with corresponding pecuniary benefit to the accused official and the supplier. Having prima-facie established criminal conspiracy for conferring undue benefit to themselves and corresponding loss to the state exchequer, SVO registered case FIR No 26/2007 P/S under section 5(2) J&K PC Act,2006 r/w 120-B-RPC and investigation taken up, the spokesman added.
