| RTC is a futile exercise, says state BJP | | Disassociates itself from RTC declaration | |
Jammu, Apr 26 The third Round Table Conference was an exercise to impose secessionist agenda over the nationalist people of Jammu and Kashmir and it was a futile exercise meant to entertain the political class of Kashmir. This was stated today by senior leadership of BJP in a press conference here today. Disassociating itself from the RTC declaration, the BJP leaders said that recently held Round Table Conference has failed to identify and address the real issues which are needed to resolve the Kashmir issue. State BJP president, Ashok Khajuria said that the entire exercise was meant to appease the Kashmir based politicians and those, who support the cause of separatist and pro-Pakistan politics. Criticizing the recommendations made by the four Working Groups, the BJP said that each and every suggestion made by the groups is Kashmir Centric. He said that the suggestions made by the RTC do not have anything for the people of Jammu, Kashmiri migrants, PoK migrants and those who migrated to Jammu and Kashmir from Western Pakistan. Addressing the media persons, BJP spokesperson, Prof Hari Om said that Government of India should give up the appeasement policy and recognize the fact that there are political streams working in Jammu and Kashmir. “There is one group of people, who are nationalists and are pro-India and there is another group which believes in separatist ideology and feels itself comfortable with self-rule and autonomy”, he added. This entire exercise was an effort to impose secessionism on the people of Jammu and Kashmir. Appreciating the stand taken by the BSP, Panun Kashmir, Abdul Majid Wani and others, the BJP leaders said that majority of the people in Jammu and Kashmir want to remain in the national mainstream and it was just handful of people, who want to destroy the sanctity of country. Former BJP president, Nirmal Singh said that the recommendations made by working groups such as demilitarization, free trade with PoK and withdrawal of AFSPA were all meant to satisfy the egos of the Kashmiri leadership and BJP will not become party to any pact which leads strengthening of separatists and militants in J&K. He said that none of the suggestion made by state BJP which included a statutory mechanism for ensuring parity between Kashmir, Jammu and Ladakh, issuance of a white paper containing details of recruitment, abrogation of article 370 which gave absolute powers to the valley centric politicians, had been considered by the RTC and working groups. The state BJP leadership in unison said that they oppose the idea of free trade with PoK, demand the disbanding of Custodian department which is an instrument to harass the people of Jammu.
