| IED defused on Highway ahead of Darbar move | | | Srinagar, Apr 27 A major tragedy was averted when security forces detected and later defused an Improvised Explosive Device on Jammu-Srinagar National Highway near Quazigund area, near here on Friday morning. Defence spokesman told News Agency of Kashmir that Road Opening Party (ROP) of 49 Rashtriya Riffles spotted a suspected object wrapped in Kashmiri Phiran under a culvert near Ujru Toll Post during the wee hours today. "Havildar Kulwinder Singh who was leading the team called Army Sniffer dog `Brusha' ( Labrador) who confirmed that it was a bomb", sources said adding, "The area was immediately cordoned off and a bomb disposal squad was rushed to the spot". "It was later found that 10 kg of RDX was planted by the militants to target security forces or civilian vehicles", added the sources. It was being suspected that the IED was to be used by the militants on Saturday when the official Darbar move starts from winter capital of the state to Srinagar. IED was defused and destroyed by bomb disposal squad. No arrest was reported from the area in this connection.
