| ‘Stop discriminatory attitude towards traders, businessmen’, Mohtra to Govt. | | | Jammu April-27- Accusing State and the Central Governments for discriminating, harassing and giving step motherly treatment to the traders and businessmen of Jammu region, the BJP Beopar Cell President Kulbhushan Mohtra has said that despite paying all the taxes in time the business community are still made to suffer, In a statement issued here today Mohtra said the way the traders and businessmen are treated reminds of the days when the Raja Maharajas used to collect ‘Jazia’ from the people. ‘Maximum revenue to the state exchequer is deposited from Jammu region, but no one dares to collect income tax and other taxes from Kashmir’, alleged Mohtra. Expressing grave concern over the rate of VAT imposed in the State, he said while VAT is charged at the rate of 4 per cent only in other states and on maximum items, it is charged at the rate of 12.5 per cent in Jammu and Kashmir. Asking Government not to test the patience of the traders and businessmen, the Mandal President has stressed the need for solving the problems of the traders and declared that BJP Beopar Cell will not allow the government to continue with the discriminatory attitude adding that his party is with the traders and businessmen of Jammu region. He has also appealed the traders and businessmen to get united for mitigation of their problems.
