| Doda observes complete bandh on ADPF call | | | DODA APRIL 27- On the call of the All Parties Development Front Doda (APDF) Doda city and its adjoining area observed complete bandh and people held a mass dharna in old bus stand here today in support of their demands. All the shops and other businessmen establishments remained closed. It was for the first time that people of different parties and all walks of life gathered together to show their oneness with the Front. They are demanding opening of University Campus, creation of separate Chenab Valley division, setting up of high court bench, opening of veterinary college, women's college, women's ITI, Doda Development Authority besides change in examination session tyo October-November from existing March- April session. The speakers lamented the government for giving step motherly treatment to this hilly and backward district and said that despite District Development Board’s decision to set up a 9-hole Golf Course at Lal Draman besides Gandola, Rope Way, nothing has been done to this regard so far. Similarly, no further headway has been made on prestigious Doda- Dessa- Kapran road connecting Kashmir with rest of the country. This alternate route is the shortest one to reach Kashmir and would remain open throughout the year, the speakers added... The meeting was presided over by Mohammad Ashraf Zargar,General Secretary of the Association. Among other who addressed the demonstrators included Niaz Ahmed Azad, Kul-Bhushan Gupta, Ishiaq Ahmed Dev, Ghulam Hassan Tak and Abdul Rehman Gattu.
