| PIC gains momentum | | All districts will have Ladies Vocational Centres, Nissar | |
Jammu April-27- As a part of five- day long Bharat Nirman Public Information Campaign, launched by the Press Information Bureau in coordination with DAVP, Song and Drama Division and Directorate of Field Publicity at Reasi, several departments and organizations put up their stalls depicting the progress registered in many fields. The stalls put up provided exhaustive information to the visitors about various schemes launched by the Central and the State Governments for the welfare of the common masses. Thousands of visitors have visited these stalls so far and evinced keen interest in the products put up for display. Apart from the civil offices, the Army has also put up its stalls providing information to the youth about recruitment in Army while 61 RR put up a medical camp at the venue of the campaign at which a team of doctors headed y Dr Saurabha Markhan examined over 500 patients and provided free medicines to them. The unit also displayed posters on prevention of HIV/AIDS. In the meanwhile, Jammu and Kashmir Minister for Social Welfare Haji Nissar Ali, who was the chief guest at today’s function, announced setting up of Ladies Vocational Centres in all the districts of the State during the current financial year, besides setting up SC/ST Hostel in Degree College, Reasi. He said that the government is determined to bring all the uncovered villages under the purview of Integrated Child Development Scheme (ICDS) and also announced grant of Rs 10 lakh for settlement of one hundred pending cases under National Family Benefit scheme. The Minister also announced that the enhancement of remuneration of Anganwari workers and helpers was under active consideration of the government adding that the matter has been raised with the Centre. He said 15 lakh people are being benefited by various social welfare schemes in the state, while over 3.35 lakh people have been brought under Old age and Handicap pension scheme with annual expenditure of Rs. seven crore. Earlier, the local MLA and Minister for Rural Development, Jugal Kishore, who was also present, apprised Social Welfare Minister about the difficulties and demands of the people of the district in respect of social welfare sector. .
