| CM felicitates J&K award winners of national games | | | Jammu, April 27 Chief Minister Mr. Ghulam Nabi Azad has expressed happiness that youth of Jammu and Kashmir are not only making mark in academic field but they are doing proud to the state in sports and other extra-curricular activities as well. Addressing award ceremony-cum-felicitation function for medal winners of the state of 32nd and 33rd national games here this evening, Chief Minister said that by winning a handsome tally of medals they have created a new history for the state in sports. Mr. Azad said that sports and extracurricular activities are essential alongwith academics for holistic personality development. He called upon sports persons of the state to strive hard and give even better performance in future events as the state has vast potential. Chief Minister while presenting awards to outstanding sports persons had a special word of praise for Miss Mitali who bagged five medals at the recently held national games at Guwahati. He announced a cash award of rupees one lakh to her. Minister of State for Youth Services and Sports Mr. Babu Singh thanked Chief Minister for taking keen interest in promotion of sports. He said the state contingent brought laurels by winning 16 medals at Guwahati national games. He also dwelt on steps being taken for promotion of sports in the state.
