| Azad for judicious use of water, its conservation | | | Jammu, April 27 Stressing the need for conservation of water, Chief Minister Mr. Ghulam Nabi Azad has said that there is urgent need to create greater awareness among people about judicious use of water. He was addressing a day-long convention of PHE Workers Welfare Association Jammu here today. He called upon the functionaries of public health engineering and other public utility service departments to put in their best efforts and come up to the expectations of the people as they are performing an onerous duty of supplying water essential for sustaining life. He said they have to serve with a missionary zeal. Chief Minister also emphasized the need for completion of PHE, irrigation and other such development schemes in a time bound manner to benefit the people expeditiously. He also stressed for constant monitoring of schemes for effective functioning thereof. Referring to various demands projected on the occasion, Mr. Azad said that these would be looked into sympathetically. Mr. Azad also distributed sewing machines among some of the next of kin of the deceased workers. Minister for PHE, Irrigation and Flood Control Mr. Mohammad Dilawar Mir and Minister for R&B Mr. Gulchain Singh Charak also addressed the convention. Chief Minister and other dignitaries were also honored on the occasion by presenting them shawls. President of the Association Mr. Bakshi Singh and General Secretary Mr. Subhash Chander presented their demands and also thanked Chief Minister for redressing many of their long-pending demands. Mayor Jammu Municipal Corporation Mr. Narinder Singh, Corporators, Chief Engineer PHE Jammu Mr. Vinod Goswami and a large number of members of PHE workers welfare association were among those present on the occasion.
