Academy of Art, Culture and Languages felicitates media persons
All set to celebrate Golden Jubilee from August-07

Jammu and Kashmir Academy of Art, Culture and Languages today announced the best book award and also felicitated media persons in a special felicitation ceremony organized at K L Sehgal Memorial Hall in the Academy premises. It was also announced on this occasion that the Academy will take up various cultural activities to observe its Golden Jubilee (50 years) from August month this year.
Speaking on the occasion, Rafiq Masoodi secretary of the host institute in his brief but comprehensive details about the achievements of the academy in promoting the literature, language and the arts of the state in addition of the traditional culture and artifacts. Masoodi also mentioned that in an effort to support and encourage writers subsidy has been extended to the writer and in last one year about 92 writers have been provided subsidy for their works. ‘To showcase the cultural ethos of state on the national and international platform the academy has organized cultural exchange programmes artists from Goa, Jharkhand, Gujarat and Tripura visited the state capital and state artists performed at Turkamanistan also.
Referring to better infrastructure, Secretary mentioned that academy is to be fully computerized very soon within six months and will be covered under LAN. At the same time under extension programmes new sub offices were set up at various district headquarters. Honorarium to writers and contributors has been enhanced while preparations are on for the large scale celebrations to mark the Golden Jubilee of the Academy.
During the proceedings of the occasion senior media persons those who were associated with the Academy events were felicitated. Secretary Academy presented mementoes to the media persons as a token of acknowledgement to their work.
On this occasion he also announced the best book awards and said that on the recommendation so the panel of judges the awarded Rs 25000/- cash award to the best works shortlisted from ten different languages. ‘These books included Mahatma Vidur authored by Gyan Singh Pagoch (Dogri), Vitasta Ka Teesra Kinara by Maharaj Krishan Santoshi (Hindi); Gojri-English Dictionary by Dr Rafiq Anjum (Gojri); Sehemay Hoye Boot by Prof Prem Singh (Punjabi); Chan mama by Parvez Manoos (Pahari); Sada-e-sadiq by Sadiq Ali Sadiq (Balti); Urdu Rasam-e-Khat, Irtiqa aur Jayaza by Prof Nazeer Malik (Urdu); Losal Gul Gyan by Labzang Samten (Ladakhi); Arzath by Bhushan Lal Koul (Kashmiri) and Focus on Jammu and Kashmir by Wali Mohammed Aseer (English), he said.
Officials of the academy, writers and theatre artists were present on this felicitation ceremony organized at K L Sehgal Hall here today.
