| Low paid employees organize May Day rally, press for demands | | | Jammu | Apr 28 All J&K low paid Employees Federation took out colorful procession from Parade Ground and after passing through Purani Mandi, City Chowk, Raghunath Bazar and Vir Marg it cultimated into a huge rally at Shahidi Chowk which was presided over by Kabla Singh, President LPEF Kathua, Thousands of employees from nook and corner of Poonch, Rajouri, Doda, Udhampur Kathua, Jammu and newly created distts. of Kishtwar, Samba, and Reasi enthusiastically participated in the function to pay glowing tributes to the May Day Martyrs and also to highlight various burning grievances of employees belonging to all categories and cadres. Besides, Abdul Mazid Khan State President of the Federation Giany Avtar Singh, President Provincial Teachers Association and General Secretaries of the federation Krishan Singh and Om Parkash Sharma addressed the rally. Veteran Trade Union Leader Com. Abdul Majid Khan, while addressing memoth rally paid befasting tributes to the May Day Martyrs and called upon employees to keep the spirit of Supreme sacrifices to fight back anti-people and anti-working class policies of the rulling classes. The Federation Chief made a strong plea for early release of DA installment from January 2007, interim relief of Rs. 1000 /- per month in respect of state employees and pensioners pending finalization and implementation of 6th CPCs recommendations, enhancement of minimum daily wage to Rs. 100 /- remuneration of village guards at par with minimum daily wage in vogue in the state honorarium of Numberdars, Anganwadi Workers commensurate with the rise in the price index, enhancement of medical allowance to Rs. 500 /- retirement age of state employees to 60 years. The speakers also demanded cash-in-view of leave to teachers grant of two and a half days extra pay to employees of Promotion quata for matriculate class-IV employees in class-III cadre, grant Uniforms and ranks to the executive staff of fisheries department at par with that of CAPD and forest departments, implementation minutes of meeting of DPC of Animal Husbandry Directorate empowering the provincial head to transfer non-gazetted employees, reorganization of legal metrology department and filling of all existing vacancies expeditiously.
