| BMS calls upon Sadhotra | | | Early Times Report
JAMMU, Aug 10 : Bhartiya Mazdoor Sangh (BMS) today called upon Labour Minister Ajay Sadhotra and sought to revise the minimum wages. According to press release, a deputation of BMS led by Bushan Sharma met with Labour Minister and demanded to revise the Minimum wages as the last revision was made on the basis of consumer price index of the year 2011 and at present the minimum wages of Rs 4500/- has lost its relevance and needed to revise the minimum wages to Rs10000. It was also demanded The State Govt. had completed all the modalities for implementation of Variable Dearness Allowance (VDA) and numbers of meeting had been held with all the stake holders but formal orders has not been issued so for reasons best known to Government. BMS also brought in to the notice of the minister that not a single meeting of Contract Labour Advisory board has been called from the last about 6 years and with the result there is too much exploitation of private Sector workers as 12 hour duties are being taken from the workers without any over time. They requested to minister that notification regarding VDA may kindly be issued before election code of conduct. The Minister gave patient hearing and assured that government would consider all these issues sympathetically at the earliest in the interest of poor workers before election code of conduct Harbans Choudhary, Sachin Bali, Ashok Choudhary, Shamsher Chand, Rajan Kumar and Som Dass were also present.
