| Month's free ration sanctioned for flood affected | | | Baramulla, August 7 The Chief Executive Councilor, LAHDC, Kargil Haji Asgar Ali Karbalaie accompanied by Executive Councilor for Rural development Haji Mohammad Ishaq, deputy commissioner, Kargil Kachoo Isfandyar Khan and a team of district Officers visited flood affected areas of Shakar-Chiktan block yesterday. Due to cloud burst and resultant heavy flood on August 5 evening severe damages were caused to residential houses, standing crops, trees and irrigation kuhls in Samrah and Kukshow villages of Shakar Chiktan block. Twenty Seven residential houses some shops, one DG station, one MAC and LDC building and several other government properties were damaged due to flash floods in the villages. Two aged persons namely Ghulam and Mohammad Samrah were washed away whose dead bodies are yet to be recovered. Many foot bridges over Kanji Nallah also washed away in the floods. The Chief Executive Councilor, LAHDC, Kargil visited damaged sites and instructed the concerned officers to start repair works to road, bridges, irrigation kuhls, culverts, etc. He directed the concerned departments for immediate restoration of the Khangral-Sanjak road for vehicular traffic. The families of the damaged houses have been shifted safer places and free ration for one month have been sanctioned for them. The Chief Executive Councilor directed the concerned department to deploy the water tanker in order to provide potable water to the affected people. He assured that Hill Council will try its best to provide all facilities to the flood affected people. He instructed the Deputy Commissioner to depute revenue officials to Shakar-Chiktan area to assess the damaged caused due to rainfall. |
